Babies photos in Hartford | Meet Little Bill

There is something incredibly special about watching your little sister give birth to her first child and greeting your first nephew into the world. It was, certainly, one of the most exciting experiences of my life. I was such a proud big sister!

When my sister and her husband brought their son, William, home form the hospital Auntie Leasha was in full photos mode, wanting to take some picture of this precious baby.

Connecticut Maternity and family photographer

Stephanie contacted me just weeks before she was due with her baby boy, having just moved to Connecticut from Hawaii! Her and her husband are now stationed here in Connecticut and they wanted their maternity session to reflect their new home. I decided that Lighthouse Point Park was a PERFECT location for their maternity and family portrait shoot.

Enjoy!

S Stephanie’s daughter was pretty much the cutest thing ever! And such a Diva too!

Seriously, how cute is she?

To say the least, it was a bit chilly and windy outside so we went in to the carousel to warm up a bit:)I told them they better get used to it quick, cause these Connecticut winters are just slightly different than Hawaiian winters.

Weeeeee!!!

Stephanie workin’ the camera by herself.

Had to get some one-on-one time with just mom and dad.

I love these pics! I can’t wait for you to take my maternity pictures!

Stephanie Elkins - November 3, 2010 - 4:37 am

Thanks so much Alicia. I can’t wait to see them all! I worked so hard on my hair and thanks to the wind you can’t tell at all! Lol. Oh well…it was fun, though. I likey. :D

Connecticut baby photography | Meet Owen

Pretty sure Owen is one of the cutest babies I have seen in a LONG time! Owen is the son of a friend of my mom’s and while they were over my parents house in Meriden, Connecticut the other day, I asked his mother, Megan if I could take him outside for some 6 month portraits. Knowing I am a bay and children’s photographer, she smiled big and nodded.:)I had some great ideas for him in the grass, but he was definitely not a fan of getting his picture taken in the grass.:)Maybe next time!

Cutest baby EVER, right?

Managed to get a brief smile out of him before he really realized how much he didn’t like the grass.

Much happier in the basket:)

One last try on the grass….didn’t work.

Training the boy right!

Connecticut Newborn photographer | Meet Peyton

I am pretty sure there is nothing that warms my heart more than tiny little newborns. The newer the better, and little miss Peyton happened to be just 3 days old when we photographed her:)I have always said that it is best to photograph newborns within the first 5 days of their life because their muscles are not too strong yet, so they are easy to “mold” into different poses. And they sleep. A LOT.

We did her newborn photography shoot in her daddy’s home in Meriden, Connecticut. I really wanted to do some outdoor newborn photos in the grass, but just as I arrived the rain started pouring down, so that hindered our session plans a bit.:)

Meet Peyton!

Once again another fantastic job! She is so adorable and you have made her newborn memories perfect for her family. I especially love the frog hat and squishy face! Congratulations to Peyton’s parents!

Littlest Heroes | Meet Sam

He was shy at first, turning his face from me every time I looked at him…especially if it was through the lens of my camera. I think I scored a couple brownie points, though, when I took some bread out of my car for him to feed the ducks. Every time he threw a piece in, he ran to his mom and said “mom, I want more!” with a huge smile on his face. As the minutes passed on, he slowly became more comfortable around me and actually looked at my camera a few times.

In a lot of ways, Sam is just like any other 3 year old. Just like any other 3 year old, he could laugh and whine all in a single sentence. Just like any other 3 year old, he would both hug and strangle his sister within 30 seconds time. Just like any other 3 year old, he could spend hours on end feeding the ducks or playing with his cars. And just like any other 3 year old, he has a heart of gold that had the ability to melt me.

But Sam is not like any other 3 year old.

Born at 34 weeks, as a premie, Sam was quickly diagnosed with MMIHS. In his mother’s own words “We can’t feel bad for ourselves though because Sam is a miracle. Most children (like 99.99999999999999 percent) who have his syndrome needed massive organ transplants to live. So while Sam was given a few knocks in life, we are so grateful that he continues to live and grow.” Sam is a hero.

I was contacted by an organization called “Littlest Heroes” not too long ago about doing donation photo sessions for families who have children that have medical issues. As many of you know, I am really passionate about giving back and helping others. Sam was the first session I have been able to do, and it was so much fun. I met Kerri and Mark at Elizabeth Park in West Hartford, CT to do Sam’s portrait shoot, as well as getting some family pictures done. For those of you who have ever done portrait sessions of toddlers, you know that you can barely keep them still long enough to click the shutter button on your camera – never mind getting them to pose in a cute way, smile, and remain still all at the same time. It is an impossible feat. But that is the beauty of photographer toddlers and kids in general – they are so unpredictable and fun!

Meet Sam. (and his adorable twin sister Amelia!)

That’s the “not sure I like you yet” face.

Playing with his car.

Had to get a few of Amelia too! She was so excited to show me her “pretty dress for pictures.”

I love the shot of her smelling the roses!

Mommy and Amelia.

A couple family portrait shots amongst the rose bushes at Elizabeth park in West Hartford, CT.

This series is my favorite of the day. Especially the out takes (you won’t need clarification on which ones those are!)

Amelia loved posing in front of the camera.:)

Started with this…

…and in a matter of second went to this!….lol!

…and then back to this.:)

Paul Dobson - March 2, 2011 - 10:44 pm

Could you please pass on our e-mail address to the family if at all possible as we have a little girl with possible MMIHS and we would like to have a talk over e-mail with them if possible.

Brilliant pictures by the way!
